Design It * Make It * Share It is a Library Services and Technology Act-funded project run by the Free Library of Philadelphia, focused on youth maker programming in public library branches. In this webinar, we will give an overview of the entire project, then dive into the “Design It” aspect: how to set up your library for success with maker programming on the floor of the library. We’ll cover nontraditional staffing models (artists, college students, and near-peer mentors), best practices for hiring and managing mentors, and will share ideas and resources for low-cost tools and supplies. This webinar will feature staff from the Free Library of Philadelphia; K-Fai Steele (Teen Programming Specialist), Barbara Tait (Programming Specialist) Khaleef Aye (Community Outreach Specialist), Brandon “BK” Klevence (Maker Mentor), as well as experts from other institutions; Molly Dickerson (MAKEshop at the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Public Library), and Dara Schmidt (Anythink).
This project is made possible by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services as administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Education through the Office of Commonwealth Libraries, and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Tom Corbett, Governor.
We hope you can join us!
